eFiling Help! North Carolina eCourts

How to eFile a bond motion (Forfeiture) on the NEW North Carolina eCourts.

North Carolina is in the process of adopting a new electronic court filing system named eCourts. This system mandates that all court documents be submitted electronically. Bondsmen are now required to file their motions through the new online platform called “eCourts File & Serve” within the eCourts Portal once specific counties transitions to this platform.

As of February 19, 2024, eCourts has been implemented in 17 counties: Beaufort, Camden, Chowan, Currituck, Dare, Gates, Harnett, Hyde, Johnston, Lee, Martin, Mecklenburg, Pasquotank, Perquimans, Tyrrell, Wake, and Washington.

On April 29, 2024, the system is set to become operational in the following additional counties: Alamance, Chatham, Durham, Franklin, Granville, Guilford, Orange, Person, Vance, and Warren.

Bail Bond & Surety Law In NC

NCBAA’s General Counsel, Steven A. McCloskey, has written a book entitled Bail Bond and Surety Law In North Carolina. You can purchase it for $40.00 at the online NCBAA Store. The reviews of Steve’s book have been very positive, and we encourage you to give it a look.

This book is an invaluable guide and resource not only for bail bondsmen and sureties doing business in North Carolina, but for attorneys and judges as well. As such, this book will help bail bonding professionals and sureties avoid potential costly and expensive minefields, and can save them, and attorneys practicing bail bond law, considerable time, energy and money.
